National Smile Month 2010 | May 16th – June 16th

National Smile Month is run by the UK’s leading independent oral health charity, the British Dental Health Foundation. Dedicated to improving the public’s oral health, this year’s campaign of ‘Teeth4Life’ highlights the importance of looking after your teeth and maintaining them for life.

This years emphasis has been placed on the following three facts and figures:

BRUSH YOUR TEETH TWICE A DAY WITH A FLUORIDE TOOTHPASTE

Fluoride is added to many toothpastes to help prevent decay, Using a fluoride toothpaste will also help to strengthen your teeth. One third of people in Britain brush their teeth once a day or less

CUT DOWN ON HOW OFTEN YOU HAVE SUGARY FOODS AND DRINKS

A third of the UK population believe school vending machines should stock sugary snacks and drinks*

Fruit smoothies can be bad for your teeth, coating them in sugar which can cause tooth decay

VISIT THE DENTIST REGULARLY, AS OFTEN AS THEY RECOMMEND

Nearly one in ten people in the UK aren’t registered with a dentist*
