Some Frequently Asked Question’s answered by Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the clinically proven, nearly invisible way to straighten teeth without metal braces. You wear a series of clear, removable aligners which gradually move your teeth into the desired position. Our aligners can be removed for eating and cleaning.

How does it work?
Based on Your Dentist’s diagnosis, a series of aligners are custom made in a laboratory using advanced computer imaging technology. You wear each aligner for two weeks before being replaced with the next one, until your teeth are straight.

Why should I select Invisalign?
Aligners are nearly invisible- straighten your teeth without anyone noticing.
Aligners are comfortable- there are no wires or metal to cause mouth abrasions
Aligners are removable- for eating, drinking, dental care or other activites.
Better oral hygiene during treatment- brush and floss normally to maintain healthy gums and teeth.

Will it work for me?
If you have all your adult teeth (fully-erupted molars), most patients can be treated with Invisalign even if they have crowns or bridges. Many common issues like crooked or crowded teeth, spaces between teeth and certain overbite and crossbite types can successfully be corrected.

Is this treatment only for adults?
No, you just need to have all your adult/permanent teeth (fully erupted molars). Be committed to wearing your aligners at all times except for eating, drinking and cleaning.

How do I get started?
After your initial evaluation with your dentist, we discuss your goals for a new smile. We plan your full treatment together, and take your impressions and photographs. With advanced computer technology we can then show you a model of how you could look, before you start your treatment.

How long does the treatment take?
Depending on difficulty, most treatments will take 12-18 months.

How long do I have to wear the aligners?
The aligners should be worn for 22-23 hours a day for the best results.
Every 2 weeks you can change to a new aligner and we recommend a check up once every 6-8 weeks.

Are the aligners really invisible?
The aligners are made from clear plastic, so they are nearly invisible. Even when very close, most people will not notice you are straightening your teeth- unless you tell them!

Can I eat and drink with my aligners?
No. The aligners are removable so you can still enjoy your favourite food and drinks. You need to avoid tooth decay and/or gum disease by not forcing the food particles and sugars against your teeth via aligners. So keeping them clean is important.

Do the aligners hurt?
It is normal that you will only feel temporary discomfort when you wear the aligners for the first few days. The smooth aligners are not harmful to the inside of your mouth, but you do feel pressure and this is a good sign that the aligners are working.

Are there any side effects?
As with conventional treatments, you may feel a slight pressure at first. Aligners may temporarily affect the speech of some people, and you may have a slight lisp for a day or two.

How old is this technology?
Align Technology, Inc., the company that manufactures Invisalign, was founded in 1997. Since then over 480,000 patients have been in treatment with Invisalign.

What is finance and what are the benefits of it?

Finance is an option available to patients where they can obtain a credit amount for the full amount of your investment in your dental care and that is paid back in monthly instalments to the finance company.

Who is eligible?
Just about anyone over the age of 18. You don’t have to belong to a private dental plan and you don’t have to be a regular patient at Parrock Street Dental Care.

What can I use the loan for?
You can use the loan to pay for most dental work, but its particularly suited to more costly private treatments, such as dental implants, orthodontics, aesthtic or cosmetic work. If you’re not sure whether it’s right for treatment than please speak to your dentists or our lovely receptionists who will be happy to help you.

How much can i borrow?
Typically between £500 and £25,000 depending on the course of treatment. This will be subject to an ‘on-the-spot’ credit check. Most patients’ applications are approved there and then, so you can go ahead and schedule treatment immediately.

How do i repay the loan?
Much like any other loan, you repay it in affordable monthly payments over an agreed term. These payments are collected by Direct Debit.

How much will I pay?
You pay the cost of your treatment- no more and no less. Interest-free means just that. However there are many different options that allow you to pay back over an even longer period of time that does have a low interest rate. You can choose whatever option best suits you.

What are the repayment terms?
Your dentist or dental team member will be able to go through the various terms with you and agree the most suitable repayment period.

How do I apply?
Once you’ve agreed on a course of treatment- and a cost- with your dentist, medenta will make a credit application on your behalf. As soon as the credit check is complete and loan processed, you’ll receive written confirmation from the credit provider. Simple as that!

If you would like any further information than please phone 01474 537191 to speak to one of our reception team members.

We very commonly hear patients say “when i was young we didn’t get the chance to have braces, but i wish i did, i hate my crooked teeth” Many patients want straight teeth but do not want veneers or crowns to enhance their smile. We now have a perfect remedy!

Technology and treatment has moved so far forward that there is now other options that patients can have instead of fixed braces, one such example is Clearstep.

The advantages of Invisible braces is that it is clear so you do not have to have a wire brace, its removable and comfortable to wear, treats people of any age, its totally unique, affordable and flexible and it can treat all types of orthodontic problems.

It works by the patient wearing a clear wafer thin plastic positioners which gradually guide your teeth from their present to desired position. The clear plastic positioners are worn in sequence and monitored by a dentist.

The most beneficial aspect is that Invisible braces are removable and therefore flexible enough to fit around your lifestyle so may be removed for that important meeting or special occasion, in addition to eating and drinking.

If you have any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team on 01474 537191
